Nueces Canyon Chamber Citizen of the Year Information
The NCCoC accepts applications for its annual Citizen of the Year award each OCTOBER – DECEMBER. Applications must not be postmarked later than December 31. The award is presented to the recipient at the annual NCCoC membership meeting held in January or February. Nominees are reviewed by a Selection Committee comprised of the NCCoC officers and/or board of directors, and Chamber members who consider the quality, scale, and duration of the accomplishments or service provided by the nominees.
The Citizen of the Year award was created to increase public awareness and appreciation for those individuals who voluntarily work to better the quality of life in the Nueces Canyon. Volunteer efforts to be considered as examples of community service include civic clubs, local government, education services, charitable/service organizations, and support of and the Nueces Canyon Chamber of Commerce.
Each of the nominees must be a Nueces Canyon resident and meet at least two or more of the following criteria:

- Consistently demonstrated excellence in professional and/or community leadership;
- Provided an outstanding service that benefits the community on a voluntary basis;
- Made, or is making, significant contributions to the welfare of the community through involvement and participation beyond the scope of average civic/citizen responsibilities, whether past or present;
- Given freely of their time and energy for community betterment, contributing to positive economic growth for the area
